VEEDERSBURG -- Mrs. Grace Cordelia Hoagland, 60, died at her home here at noon Monday after an illness of three years during which she suffered several strokes. Born near Veedersburg Feb. 19, 1903, she was a daughter of William and Florence Songer Gookins. She married Dallas M. Hoagland July 31, 1923. The husband survives with three daughters, Mrs. Mary Jane Frances and Mrs. Martha Beck of Veedersburg and Mrs. Rose Beasley of Lima, Ohio; three sons, Lawrence S. and Donald of Veedersburg and James of Newtown; 13 grandchildren; two brothers, William and Hardy Gookins of Newtown, and a sister, Mrs. Mabel Davis of Covington. Mrs. Hoagland was preceded in death by her parents, two sons in infancy and a sister. She was a member of the New Century EUB Church, Quigle-Palin 394 of American Legion Auxiliary, American War Mothers and Pythian Sisters. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Fishero Funeral Home here, where friends may call. Rev. Conley Rowland will officiate. Interment will be in the Osborne Prairie Cemetery.  --typed by Walt W

She was born near Veedersburg Feb. 19, 1903, the daughter of William and Florence Songer Gookins. She was married July 31, 1923 to Dallas M. Hoagland, who survives. She was a member of the New Century EUB Church, Quigle-Palin Post 394, American Legion Auxiliary, American War Mothers and Pythian Sisters. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are: three daughters, Mrs. Mary Jane Frances and Mrs. Martha Beck of Veedersburg and Mrs. Rose Beasley of Lima, Ohio; three sons, Lawrence S. and Donald of Veedersburg, and James of Newtown; 13 grandchildren; two brothers, William and Hardy Gookins of Newtown, and one sister, Mrs. Davis.
